Tonight’s Dancing with the Stars 2014 episode reveals the first elimination. There were some great dancers on the premiere of DWTS Season 18–and some that were not so good. Will popularity play a huge role in who stays on DWTS 2014? It usually does. Stay here as we see who was voted off Dancing with the Stars Season 18 tonight during our live recap.
Last week’s episode of Dancing with the Stars 2014 was interesting with all the new faces, including sportscaster Erin Andrews hosting alongside Tom Bergeron. At the end of the night, DWTS Season 18 had ice dancer Charlie White and his partner Sharna Burgess at the top of the leader board with Full House’s Candace Cameron Bure and partner Mark Ballas in at second. At the bottom were swimmer Diana Nyad and Henry Byalikov right above actor Billy Dee Williams and Emma Slater. What are your DWTS 2014 predictions on who will be eliminated?
At the end of the Dancing with the Stars Season 18 premiere last week, the chosen dances for Week 2 from each of the stars were revealed. Yet the stars seem surprised! Did they really choose them? Check out tonight’s complete list of dance styles that we’ll see on DWTS 2014. Hang around and watch to see how the stars do on DWTS Season 18 during our live recap of all the performances.

Time for tonight’s Dancing with the Stars 2014! But first a performance by the troupe and the stars!
Tom Bergeron now gives us a big surprise: there will be a double elimination tonight! The entire room is quiet, except for a few boos. We get our first DWTS Season 18 results. Drew Carey and Cheryl Burke are the first to be safe and must now perform.
The pressure is on. Sharna would not have chosen the jive, and Drew is feeling frustrated. How will they do?
Drew Carey & Sharna Burgess – Jive
Judges: Len Goodman congratulates Drew for getting through. He says to work on his footwork but that he is so entertaining. Bruno Tonioli agrees that he gets the crowd going and is good at covering his mistakes. Good jive! Carrie Ann Inaba thought the jive was a risk, but he did excellent with it and could be surprised with his scores. Hmmm . . . .
Scores: Carrie Ann – 7 (even with the mistakes, she says), Len – 7, Bruno – 7 = 21/30
Vote: 1-800-868-3409
Time for more DWTS 2014 elimination results. The next safe couple is Billie Dee Williams and Emma Slater. Are you kidding me? Yes, popularity definitely plays a role, as this famous actor’s dancing certainly didn’t. Also safe are ice dancer Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Danica McKellar and Val Chmerkovskiy? They’re safe, too, and are next to dance.
In rehearsals, Danica felt the pressure, dissolving into tears. Val admits that he has choreographed a dance he would do with a professional dancer. Can Danica perform it at the level she needs?
Danica McKellar & Val Chmerkovskiy – Samba
Judges: Tom tells them it’s Val’s birthday, although that won’t influence their judging. Bruno says that Danica is a beautiful cat to look at but isn’t quite tame. She just needs to work on the details to be a “scorcher. Carrie Ann says she dominated it; she was sexy and elegant and even “flawless” in her Samba movements. She just gets lost some. Len tells her to straighten her legs some but to keep doing what she’s doing. “Fantastico!”
Scores: Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 8, Bruno – 8 = 24/30
Vote: 1-800-868-3403
Billie Dee wasn’t happy with his score of 15 last week and wanted to cry. Partner Emma tells him that if they turned the leader board upside down, he would be in the lead! Huh? Poor guy feels like he’s an old man trying to do young stuff. His back hurts, so Emma brings in a couple of more pretty girls. Billie Dee had a great time!
Billie Dee Williams & Emma Slater – Tango
Judges: The extra girls even join them in the dance. Carrie Ann says a lot of men his age must be jealous of him. He does have some hip issues. He didn’t miss a step but needs more movements. Len says it “crept across the floor.” It must be sharper. Bruno says he went for the “minimal approach” to see what happened with the ladies. Laughter ensues, and that’s it.
Scores: Carrie Ann – 5, Len – 5, Bruno – 5 = 15/30
Vote: 1-800=868-3405
Time for voters to choose switch-ups by tweeting hashtag DWTS plus both first names of the pair they want together.
Meanwhile Meryl and Maks are up next. Maks works on throwing her around, although he’s way too old for this, he says.
Meryl Davis & Maks Chmerkovskiy – Swing
Judges: Len compliments the swing dancing and the band. “Fly on, girl; you’re going to be here for a while.” Bruno comments on the level of difficulty and style and even prayed for a couple of mistakes. Maks asked what they were so they could improve. Carrie Ann liked that Meryl had Maks “working his butt off.” She is very athletic and a star!
Scores: Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 9, Bruno – 8 = 25/30 Maks says that “the important one gave us a nine.” Ha! Then he tells brother Val happy birthday.
Vote: 1-800-868-3406
Three more couples are about to learn their fate on DWTS Season 18. Safe are paraOlympian Amy Purdy and Derek Hough, as well as Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas. Going home right now are Diana Nyad and Henry Byalikov. She is disappointed that they didn’t even get to do their dance and wishes she could give her partner a few more weeks. Tom Bergeron says to let them dance! Let’s do it!
Diana Nyad & Henry Byalikov – ChaChaCha
Tom points out what a sport Diana was to go ahead and perform her dance. The audience agrees with their applause.
We come back with Erin Andrews talking to the guy, Jeremy Miller, who both Candace and Danica dated in the past. He won’t make a decision as to whom he is routing for. Meanwhile, Mark Ballas tells Candace that his dancer friends think she is hot, and she should embrace her “hotness.” Candace, during rehearsals, talks about her Christianity and how she isn’t going to compromise her wardrobe. She also says the rumba will be sensual and beautiful, not sexy.
Candace Cameron Bure & Mark Ballas – Rumba
Judges: The crowd loves it, as they have a hard time quieting down. Carrie Ann says it was more of a contemporary style than a rumba. Still, she’s a beautiful dancer. Len says that it didn’t come off romantic as she wanted, but she still did well. Bruno loves how she dances from her heart and she will be sure to correct any errors next week.
Scores: Carrie Ann – 7, Len – 7, Bruno – 7 = 21/30
Vote: 1-800-868-3407
Up next, Amy Purdy is afraid her legs may fly off during their dance. Dang, I hope not!
Amy Purdy & Derek Hough – Swing
Judges: Tom says he wasn’t so relaxed during that swing! Len says she was amazing. Bruno points out her styles of Charleston, Jazz, and she was a knockout. Carrie Ann is impressed by how synchronized her movements are. Well done!
Scores: Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 8, Bruno – 8 = 24/30 Derek is very proud of Amy! It’s not what you have; it’s what you give. (per Amy–awwww!)
Vote: 1-800-868-3410
More results on on DWTS 2014. Charlie and Sharna are safe. So are James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd. Eye-candy James is hilarious during rehearsals as he suggests perhaps dancing shirtless, pantless, or even in the nude.
James Maslow & Peta Murgatroyd – Salsa
Judges: Well, James did wear an unbuttoned shirt. Lookin’ good! Bruno makes note of his abs. He has come out of his shell! He is impressed how James, dancing besides a professional, made everyone look at him. “Damn!” exclaims Carrie Ann. With that dance, he joined the DWTS Sexy Hall of Fame. Len says he was in full attack so sometimes lost the hip action. Just “ease off the gas a bit.”
Scores: Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 8, Bruno – 8 = 25/30 James says they still have some moves coming. Tom says that Carrie Ann is drooling and that they’ll have to wipe her down.
Vote: 1-800-868-3402
Sharna Burgess pulls in bad boy Maks to help Charlie step into the character he needs for his dance. Charlie says it was helpful.
Charlie White & Sharna Burgess – Tango
Judges: Carrie Ann says Charlie looked confident out there and looked like a wild-haired Baryshnikov. Len is tried of her talk and goes on to say that Charlie has to stick to rules in his profession, and he broke some. He gets booed, while Carrie Ann does agree that Len is right. Bruno says he was sharp and had “killer instinct.”
Scores: Carrie Ann – 9, Len- 7, Bruno – 9 = 25/30
Vote: 1-800-868-3412
It’s time to reveal more results. Here are the remaining couples: Cody Simpson and Witney Carson, Nene Leakes and Tony Dovolani, Sean Avery and Karina Smirnoff. But then Tom Bergeron tells them that first they must dance.
Nene Leakes & Tony Dovolani – Jive (chosen at Nene’s husband’s request)
Judges: Len points her mistake, although it was a cute routine. He hopes she comes back because she is so much fun. Bruno loves how she “shimmers and shakes.” The jive should be sharper with the footwork, but it was entertaining. And fun, says Carrie Ann. Her arms shouldn’t come out so far, though. Tony argues with her about where the arms need to be for the dance.
Scores: Carrie Ann – 7, Len – 7, Bruno – 7 = 21/30
Vote: 1-800-868-3401
Sean Avery actually smiled last week. He’s funny when he talks about how Dancing with the Star wants people to walk around with smiles on their faces all the time. Karina does point out that the salsa needs to be happy!
Sean Avery & Karina Smirnoff – Salsa
Judges: Bruno says that when Sean smiles, his whole personal changes, and he would like to see more of that. There are some timing issue, but he hopes he stays. Carrie Ann points out his authenticity, and she loves that. His rhythm is “for real!” Len tells him a big secret–to get higher scores, which he is going to get from Len. Hmmm . . . .
Scores: Carrie Ann – 7, Len – 7, Bruno – 7 = 21/30
Vote: 1-800-868-3404
Cody is having a hard time following the rules of the Tango and keeping his pants from falling down . . . .
Cody Simpson & Witney Carson – Tango
Judges: Carrie Ann hopes Cody makes it through, because his style started to come together as the routine progressed. She feels he struggles with the height difference, and the switch-up could benefit him with a taller partner. It got a bit loose, says, Len. However, he is impressed with his fitting a moonwalk into the tango. Bruno compares him to Edward in Twilight. He feels he worked really hard on the dance. He liked what he saw.
Scores: Carrie Ann – 7, Len – 7, Bruno – 8 = 22/30
Vote: 1-800-868-3408
It’s time for the second of the double elimination on Dancing with the Stars Season 18. Nene and Tony are safe, so either Cody or Sean is going home. The couple going home tonight is . . . Sean Avery and Karina Smirnoff. Cody and Witney are safe. Too bad for Sean, as I wanted to see his smile more. And Karina is an amazing dancer. I just think that Sean Avery isn’t well-known enough and didn’t get the popular vote. Do you agree? Too bad that we can’t see more of him to see how he could grow as a dancer–especially since he is much better than several of the dancers who were not eliminated. Oh, well . . . . That’s the way the ballroom goes. See you next week as we recap Week 3 of Dancing with the Stars 2014. Now get to voting!
